    Anyone who has worked in the loudspeaker industry knows the concept of loudspeaker distortion, but I'm afraid not many people know the specific meaning of distortion, what extent distortion must be controlled, what causes distortion and how to avoid distortion. Today I'll explain one by one for you.

    Loudspeaker distortion is also known as high-pitch wave distortion. The sound radiated from the loudspeaker should only be reproduced by the added signal, but in fact, besides the fundamental frequency signal, there are other frequencies of sound which make the sound sound sound sound have an abnormal feeling. This phenomenon is called distortion.

    Distortion rate must be compared quantitatively to be correct, but it should not exceed 5%.

    Distortion is mainly caused by:

    1 driving force (current distortion with uneven distribution of magnetic beams, input exceeding rated input power)

    2. Supporting part (flange part of elastic wave and vibration plate)

    There are three important reasons for piston motion and split motion of vibration plate.

    Distortion includes: 1. Nonlinear distortion includes harmonic distortion and intermodulation distortion.

    2. Transient distortion.

    A. Harmonic distortion: It is generally caused by the non-uniform magnetic field of loudspeaker and the non-linear distortion of vibration plate system. Usually occurs at low frequencies, because the amplitude is large at low frequencies, voice coil cartridges, elastic waves and other prone to non-linear distortion.

    In the magnetic return clearance of loudspeaker, not only the annular magnetic field exists at the corresponding thickness of the iron sheet, but also the external magnetic field exists, only the magnetic force line is not so dense. Therefore, the magnetic field is not uniform strong magnetic field, there is non-uniformity, so the coil moves in the clearance, and the magnetic field it feels is not uniform, which will cause certain distortion.

    B. Intermodulation distortion: Two different frequencies of signals are added to the loudspeaker at the same time. Intermodulation distortion will cause tone distortion. When the intermodulation distortion is large, the quality of replays such as chorus clappers will be significantly deteriorated.

    C. Transient distortion: This is the output waveform distortion caused by the loudspeaker vibration system can not keep up with the fast changing electrical signals. This distortion is related to the smoothness of the frequency response curve. This distortion is more serious at each resonance point of the vibration plate (corresponding to the peak and valley of the frequency response curve).

    I have written an article before that the output power of the amplifier must be greater than that of the horn, otherwise it will not only affect the sound effect, but also accelerate the damage of the amplifier. When the selected horn impedance is higher than the output impedance of the power amplifier, the output power of the amplifier will be affected. When the horn impedance is too low, if it is below 4 ohms, the power amplifier used does not match the rated output power, and the distortion will increase in this case.

    The power amplifier used does not match the rated output power. The lower the impedance of the loudspeaker, the greater the distortion. The distortion of figure A above will be very large.

    Summary: If the impedance of the horn meets the requirements and the rated power is slightly smaller than the rated power of the power amplifier, the distortion is relatively small and the sound quality of the horn is good.
